Over the five-week course we explored the world of nonverbal communication by learning the basics of Sign Language. This course became a wonderful opportunity for us to touch upon the culture of people with hearing impairments and understand how important barrier-free communication is.
During this time, we have learnt:
Ukrainian Sign Language alphabet;
signs on such topics as family ties, institutions, cities, professions, etc;
most common conversational phrases used in daily life;
terminology related to emergencies to be able to help in critical situations.
