On February 7 – 8, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv became the center of diplomatic battles. The Main (Red) Building hosted an intellectual and educational event titled «World Storm. Model UN.» It was not just a role-playing game, but a deep political simulation that brought together about 60 high school and college students to explore one of the most dramatic chapters in world history.
Participants were immersed in 1936 Europe, representing the interests of 19 nations. The main challenge for the young delegates was to find alternative diplomatic paths that could prevent the outbreak of World War II. The format of the event required the young people not only to know the facts but also to demonstrate skill in public debate, strategic planning, and the ability to develop complex political stances in conditions of acute international confrontation.
The current situation added a certain edge to the event – even during air alerts, the committees’ work continued uninterrupted. Participants responsibly continued negotiations in the shelter, demonstrating resilience and genuine dedication to the cause. This underscored once again that for Ukrainian youth, the pursuit of knowledge and constructive dialogue is stronger than any external threats.
Over the course of two days, the delegates demonstrated an impressive level of leadership skills and teamwork. «World Storm» has become an important platform for nurturing a new generation that understands the value of diplomacy and the importance of responsible decisions in preserving global peace.
